Senior Research Analysts Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

Organized Crime Research

  1. Developing and reviewing of organized crime research policies and
  2. Carrying out research and analysis on organized crime patterns and
  • Validating organized crime data sets and analytical
  1. Preparing of high-level organized crime research
  2. Providing technical advisory and support services on organized crime
  3. Supporting development of specialized research
  • Strengthening research collaboration and
  • Monitoring quality and relevance of organized crime research

Conventional and Emerging Crime

  1. Coordinating     research     initiatives    on     conventional     and emerging
  2. Providing expert technical input to crime prevention
  • Preparing of research publications and
  1. Undertaking thematic crime studies and analytical
  2. Developing and maintaining of crime
  3. Undertaking policy formulation with evidence-based
  • Strengthening stakeholder research
  • Monitoring emerging crime trends and

Monitoring and Evaluation Research

  1. Coordinating evaluation research on criminal justice
  2. Undertaking impact assessments and outcome
  • Reviewing evaluation tools and
  1. Monitoring implementation of evaluation
  2. Preparing consolidated evaluation research
  3. Providing technical guidance on programme
  • Supporting evidence based programme
  • Strengthening evaluative research

Public Awareness and Partnerships

  1. Coordinating dissemination of research findings to
  2. Preparing of crime advisories and policy
  • Supporting design and implementation of awareness
  1. Monitoring stakeholder engagement and feedback
  2. Strengthening collaborative
  3. Supporting evaluation of public awareness
  • Coordinating stakeholder forums and
  • Enhancing visibility of research

Capacity Building

  1. Coordinating development and implementation of training
  2. Supporting curriculum development and
  • Coordinating research exchange
  1. Supporting institutional research capacity
  2. Ensuring compliance with training standards and
  3. Supporting monitoring and evaluation of training
  • Assisting in development of resource mobilization
  • Promoting use of research outputs in training

Applicants may be deployed to any of the above functional areas

Senior Research Analysts Job Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  1. Cumulative service period of nine (9) years, three of which should have been at the grade of Research Analyst or in comparable position;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Law, Political Science, Crime, Public Administration or related field from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Law, Political Science, Crime, Public Administration or related field from a recognized institution;
  1. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  2. Minimum of one (1) publication in peer reviewed journal, book or book chapter;
  3. Minimum of two (2) published research papers or reports;
  • Proficiency in data analytics; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and

The        Successful           candidates          will         be           required               to           submit   the               following documents;

  1. a) Certificate of clearance from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  2. b) Certificate of Clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. c) Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  4. d) Duly filled and stamped self declaration/ clearance form from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC)

The  self  declaration  form,  Ethics  and  Anti-Corruption  Commission  (EACC) should indicate the position for which declaration is being submitted.
